The Mid-90s, Imposter Syndrome, and My Mission to Verify Trust

For over 25 years, a quiet frustration has been brewing. It began in the mid-90s, when my work with encryption and chip technologies for smart cards with the Advanced Card Technology Association of Canada (ACT Canada) led to a published contribution in a card security book, where I authored a chapter on the foundational elements of trust in payments. This was a moment of true professional notability for me, yet despite this, I battled a profound imposter syndrome that kept me from fully owning my authority.

This internal battle simmered for years as I watched the digital world evolve. My frustration grew on the client side, where I saw businesses lose out because they couldn’t get past C-level gatekeepers who were too risk-averse to act. They were brilliant companies with incredible products, but their digital presence—their digital handshake—was flawed. I knew their expertise was real, but in the new era of search, if you can’t verify that expertise, it doesn’t matter.

That frustration became my fuel. It became the reason I launched Re-Imagine That Digital. My mission is to popularize a simple truth: in a world of AI-driven search, verifiable trust is the new currency of business.

From Transactions to Transparency: Building a New Foundation

The principles of trust I worked with in the 90s are more relevant today than ever. Back then, a Bill of Exchange was a physical document that established trust between two parties. Today, our agency is building the modern equivalent of that system for brands.

  • We Verify Trust: My work in encryption taught me that trust is not a claim; it’s a verifiable system. Our proprietary AI-powered system doesn’t just promise EEAT; it actively finds, documents, and amplifies the proof of a brand’s expertise and authority. We turn trust signals into a quantifiable asset.
  • We Champion Notability: In the mid-90s, getting published in a niche book was a sign of notability. Today, we help brands build that same kind of hyper-granular recognition. We help them get seen as a front-of-mind authority not by being everywhere, but by having a significant influence within their specific field.
  • We Demand Transparency: In finance, anonymity is a red flag. The same is true in digital marketing. We encourage radical transparency across every area of a business, ensuring that the people behind the brand are explicitly understood by both consumers and algorithms. A clear, honest digital identity is the foundation of any credible business.

My journey from a published expert in an emerging field to an entrepreneur has been a lesson in what truly matters: trust, transparency, and a relentless passion to get the job done right. We have the team and the drive to do the work required, and we are here to help any business that is ready to act.
